Galway’s live music guide: Sunday 3rd February

Happy Sunday to all you beautiful Galwegians! It’s a slightly inclement day out there today but at the same time, the perfect weather for some tunes beside the fire. Here are some of the gigs going on across your Sunday…

The Town Hall Theatre gets the days proceedings started with a show by the Lendvai String Trio. Show starts at 3pm and tickets are available ion the door. The Salt House Sunday session continues to bring you some of the finest in Folk and Americana music performed by a wide selection of super talented musicians. Gig starts around 4:30pm. Sin a Deir Sí will be lashing out the trad tunes downstairs in Monroe’s Galway from 6pm. Richie Brennan and the Vibe Tribe will be laying into those old-school Rock and Blues hits in E-Bruns from around 6:30pm.

Jazz at the Mill continues downstairs in Il Vicolo from around 7pm with Szymon Misniak and friends diligently performing the classics. You can catch Pa Sheil and Fergal McDonagh doing their acoustic thing in the Quays Bar Galway from around 7pm. Tuam musical powerhouse Mouse McHugh kicks off his set downstairs in Monroe’s Galway from around 8:30pm.

Malcolm Middleton is performing at the Roisin Dubh tonight with doors opening at 8pm while the Open Mic Night at Róisín Dubh continues upstairs from around 8:30pm. Greg Cotter and Mary Flanagan host their weekly Country/Folk session in the Crane Bar from around 9pm. Jade Reynolds and the gentlemen of the The Rollover are on hand to sooth the Sunday blues in Massimo Bar Galway from 9:30pm

If you happen to be across the river then be sure to drop into Tigh Neachtainand catch V and the Gang bringing their Swedish Gypsy sounds to the musicians corner from around 9:30pm. Across the road in the Quays you can see Turlock Holmes and the always upbeat members of Pyramid doing their thing from around 9:45pm. Karl Clews performs with the Superfreaks in the Dail Bar from around 10:30pm and we will be hitting the stage in the Roisin Dubh at 12 midnight!

Another week of musical excitement under our belts and we’re chomping at the bit to fill the back room with all kinds of noise tonight! I am delighted to welcome the full compliment of musicians back to the stage… On vocals Barbara Vulso. On sax Bertrand Huvé. On flutes Gabo GD. On keys Eanna Ryder. On bass Eoin Mccann. On Drums Bushkanga Rilla. On vocals and guitar Mark Sullivan. On harmonica Maciek Zaworonek.

Well it’s another busy day in G-Town and as always, if you guys make it to the end of the night we’d only love to have the pleasure of your company in the back room of the Róisín Dubh where we will be raising the roof until it’s time to go home!
