Happy sunny Sunday to all you beautiful Galwegians. It’s the last Sunday of the month and already there’s a bit of a stretch in the evenings! As is the norm, the musical community of Galway is on hand to provide you with some gentle and melodious distraction throughout the day. Here are just some of the gigs taking place:

The Salthouse Bar Sunday Music Session kicks off on Ravens Terrace at 4:30pm and is the perfect way to start into your Sunday of music! This gig features some of the finest musicians in the county with the line up changing weekly.

Sin a Deir Sí continue their trad session downstairs in Monroe’s Galway from around 6pm while you can catch Richie Brennan and the Vibe Tribe belting out the old-school Rock and Blues in E-Bruns Bar from around 6:30pm. Szymon Misniak and the KoKo Ensemble take to the stage for some Jazz at the Mill in Il Vicolo from 7pm. Pa Sheil and Fergal McDonagh will be bringing their acoustic show to the Quays Bar Galway from 7pm. Mouse McHugh is back with his power-house set downstairs in Monroe’s Galway at 8:30pm.

If you seek something a little different The Black Gate Cultural Centre plays host to the Riff Raff Comedy night from 8:30pm

Greg Cotter and Mary Flanagan curate their weekly Country/Folk session in the Crane Bar from around 9pm. Half Mile Down will be making beautiful music in Taylor’s Bar & Beer Garden from around 9:30pm while you can catch Jade Reynolds and the gentlemen of the The Rollover doing their musical thing in Massimo Bar Galway from around 9:30pm.

If you happen to be across the river then be sure to drop into Tigh Neachtainwhere you can listen to the dulcet tones of the multi-talented Benjamin Turner and friends performing in the musicians corner from 9:30pm. Across the road in the Quays Bar Galway you can delight in the smiling faces of Pyramid (featuring the super-human Turlock Holmes on bass) playing all your favourites form 9:45pm. The Superfreaks will be getting all funky in the Dail Bar from around 10:30pm and we will be hitting the stage in the Róisín Dubh at 12 midnight!

it’s been a long, cold, wet week folks and sometimes all we can do is dance…For the last night of our January crew, I have the following amazing people joining me to make a racket! Mark Sullivan on guitar and vocals. Bushkanga Rilla on drums. Bertrand Huvé on sax. Barbara Vulso on vocals. Eanna Ryder on keys and John O’Dwyer on bass and those awesome shirts 😉

So there you have it. It’s another busy Sunday in Galway and as always, if you make it to the end of the night we’d only love to have the pleasure of your company in the back room of the Róisín Dubh where we will be shouting and roaring until it’s time to go home 😉
