John Keoghs in Galway wins Pub of The Year!

John Keoghs – The Lock Keeper on Dominick Street in Galway’s Westend has been named Pub of the Year by McKennas Guide for 2019.

The McKennas Guide says of the pub:

“Galway’s strength as a food destination is not just its starry chefs, but instead it is its strength in depth. And this is where John Keogh’s – The Lockkeeper comes into the picture. The cooking in Matt Hall’s bustling pub has won every possible award, and for a simple reason: this is real, West Coast, modern Irish cooking, and it is so much better than your expectations that its impact is enormous.”

John Keogh’s Proprietor, Matt Hall, responding to the award today said:

“We are absolutely delighted with this award. What a way to start our year in John Keoghs. Since receiving our first McKennas award two years ago and now to winning the Pub of the Year, we are really just over the moon that people are enjoying eating and spending time with us here in John Keoghs.”

Having opened just 3 short years ago under a license purchased by Matt Hall from a closed-down pub in Westmeath, John Keoghs has been a very welcome addition to the local pub culture and is now firmly placed among Galway’s gastropub destinations.

Dinner is served on week nights from 5pm and lunch from 1pm on weekends. For more info, check out John Keoghs on Tripadvisor or
