Galway’s live music guide: Sunday 20th January

Happy Sunday to all you beautiful Galwegians! It’s shaping up to be another beautiful day in Galway with plenty of musical entertainment to keep you busy. Here’s just a taste of what’s going today…

The Salthouse Bar Sunday Music Session kicks off at 4:30pm bringing you the best in Folk/Americana vocal harmonies and featuring an ever changing line of up of multi talented musicians including Noriana Kennedy and Nicola Joyce. The best way to kick off your Sunday! Sin a Deir Sí continue their weekly trad session in Monroe’s Galway from 6pm. Richie Brennan and the Vibe Tribe get busy in E-Bruns bringing you some old-school Rock and Blues from 6:30pm. Pa Sheil and Fergal McDonagh bring their high energy acoustic show to the stage in the Quays Bar Galway at 7pm. Il Vicoloprovides the venue for your dose of Sunday Jazz with Szymon Misniak and friends from 7:30pm. Musical powerhouse Mouse McHugh kicks of his set downstairs in Monroe’s Galway at around 8pm.

Doors for the hugely popular Open Mic Night at Róisín Dubh will open at around 8:30pm upstairs in the Roisin Dubh where the superfly Steven Sharpe and Trass Bee will be on-hand to guide you through the evenings proceedings. Greg Cotter and Mary Flanagan curate the friendliest of sessions in the Crane Bar playing some mighty fine Country/Folk from around 9pm. Jade Reynolds and the members of The Rollover will be serenading you in Massimo Bar Galway from around 9pm.

If you happen to be across the river then be sure to drop into Tigh Neachtainand catch the Dominic Street Ramblers featuring Cathal JohnsonBrendan Hearty, Gerry Whelan and Justin Mc Carthy. The lads will be lashing into some Bluegrass in the corner from around 9:30pm. Across the road in the Quays Bar Galway you can catch the contagiously happy Turlock Holmeswhen he performs alongside the indomitable members of Pyramid from around 10:15pm. Karl Clews and the Superfreaks get busy in the Dail Bar from 10:30pm and we will be bringing some heat to the back room of the Roisin Dubh at 12 midnight!

It’s a grand bunch we have for this evenings sing along as we welcome back Barbara Vulso from her travels! Joining Barbara tonight…. Mark Sullivan on guitar and Banagher Blues. Bushkanga Rilla on drums. Bertrand Huvé on sax. Eanna Ryder on keys and the awesome John O’Dwyer on bass and Tom Selleck shirts 😉
