Galway’s live music guide: Sunday 9th September

Happy sunny Sunday to all you beautiful Galwegians! It’s blue skies and sunshine out there today as we get started on the mini-music festival that is Sunday in Galway! 😎

Biteclub – Streetfood Discotheque is holding another of its now legendary Disco Brunches in the heated garden from 2:30pm with DJ Anthony Collins bringing the tunes.

The Wild West Uke Fest 2018 is having it’s closing Gala downstairs in Monroe’s Galway at 3pm and it’s going to be epic! It’s a free event

The Salt House is where it’s at from 4:30pm with Noelie McDonnell, Nicola Joyce and Kelvin Busher setting the standard. Awesome tunes and an open fire so get in early! The Barnyard Trio with Mark McConville, Aido Curran, & Donal Kerans kick off some Blues, Roots & Sweet Soul music in Garavans at 6:30pm. Il Vicolo is the spot for your dose of Sunday Jazz from around 7pm where Szymon Misniak continues to supply an impressive selection of special guests every week. 7:30pm sees the changing of the guard and the start of the second session of the day in the Salt House with some of the members of Galway Street Club bringing the house down.

Mouse Mchugh will be back in Monroe’s Galway from around 8pm. Doors for the Open Mic Night at Róisín Dubh open upstairs at 8:30pm where you will find Trass Bee and Steven Sharpe curating some of the finest in new music from all over the county. Greg Cotter and Mary Flanagan continue to run their Country/Folk session in the Crane Bar from around 9pm. Jade Reynolds and the Rollover will be bringing some mighty fine music to Massimo Bar Galway from around 9:30pm

If you happen to be across the river you can catch the sensational Tom Portman and his motley crew performing in Tigh Neachtain from 9:30pm. The optimist Turlock Holmes and his musical friends will be playing in the Quays Bar Galway from 10:15pm. Karl Clews and the Superfreaks will be providing the tuneage in The Dail Bar from 10:30pm and we will be hitting the stage in the Róisín Dubh at 12 midnight!

Joining me tonight to make some serious noise… Maciek Zaworonek on harmonica. Eoin Mccann on bass. Mark Sullivan on guitar and Banagher Blues. Bushkanga Rilla on drums. Barbara Vulso on vocals. Bertrand Huvé on sax. Gabo GD on flutes and our very special guest on keys the heavy hitter Xavi Gomis!

So there you have it folks. It’s another jam-packed day in G-town and if you make it to the end of the night we’d only love to have the pleasure of your company in the back room of the Róisín Dubh where we will be doing our very best to keep Monday at bay for just a little while longer.
