Galway’s live music guide: Sunday 6th May

Happy glorious sunny Sunday to all you beautiful summer ready Galwegians! 😎 It’s shaping up to be a scorcher out there today so make sure ya’ll are properly basted for optimum exposure on middle arch! As usual, there’s loads of stuff going on today to keep you in the summer mood. Here are just some of the events taking place over the course of the day…

Biteclub – Streetfood Discotheque gets the day started with their infamous Disco Brunch taking place upstairs in the roof garden from 12pm. Cocktails, food and sunshine with tunes from Anthony Collins & Graham Dolan until this evening!

The Salt House sessions continue today at 4:30pm with the sublime Noriana Kennedy and friends adding the perfect musical accompaniment to beers in the sun. Richie Brennan and the Vibe Tribe bring their own brand of old school Rock and Blues to E Brún Bar from 6:30pm. At around 7pm you can catch the soulful sounds of Szymon Misniak and the Failthdealers in Il Vicolo. The awesome trad proponents Cogar have compiled an eclectic range of songs and tunes, mixing traditional Irish and traditional Sardinian music. They take to the stage downstairs in the Róisín Dubh at 8pm.

Monroe’s Galway is where you can catch the Tuam legend Mouse Mchugh perform his powerhouse set downstairs from 8pm. Open Mic Night at Róisín Dubh is back and gets going upstairs at around 8:30pm with Steven Sharpeand Trass Bee maintaining order throughout. If you like Country/Folk with a side of trad then get on down to the Crane Bar at 9pm and check out Greg Cotter and Mary Flanagan where they run one of the nicest session in the country! Massimo Bar Galway has the wonderful Jade and James entertaining the crowds from 9pm until Evan Flash takes over for the late nighters 

If you happen to be across the river then get on into Tigh Neachtain and catch the always epic The Clandestinos where they will be raising the roof off the place from 9:30pm. James Richardson and Fred Mc Closkey get all Pyramidal in Quays Bar Galway from 10:30pm. Bass virtuoso Karl Clews will be getting superfreaky in The Dáil Bar Galway from around 10:30pm and we will be rolling on stage around midnight tonight!

Well folks, it’s been another crazy week in band camp! We’ve used up nearly all of our allocated Suncream for this month and still it shines! Lobster tans here we come 😁 Joining me tonight to stave off sunstroke and make some noise, I am delighted to have the following sound merchants joining me… Bushkanga Rilla on drums, socks and sandals. Mark Sullivan on guitar, straw hats and Banagher Blues. Eanna Ryder on keys and 99’s. Barbara Vulso on vocals and Flakes. Eoin Mccann on bass and tour guide duties. Gabo GD on flutes and Moreno Albañil. Bertrand Huvé on sax and factor 50. Joining us once again our very special guest on harmonica Maciek Zaworonek!

So there you have it folks. It’s another super busy day in Galway and if you guys make it to the end of the night we’d only love to have the pleasure of your company in the Róisín Dubh where will be doing our best to keep the holiday vibes going late into Monday morning
