Galway’s live music guide: Sunday 22nd April

Happy Sunday to all you beautiful and slightly tanned Galwegians! 😎 The sunshine has put everyone in summer form and the vibe around town is amazing! It looks like there might be a bit of a change today but have no fear, Galway’s musical community is on hand to provide a fitting soundtrack to your Sunday  Here are just some of the gigs taking place over the course of the day…

Start your Sunday off right with a visit to the Salt House session featuring the divine voices of Noriana Kennedy and friends. Music gets going at 4:30pm. Richie Brennan and the Vibe Tribe continue their old school Rock and Blues residency in E Brún Bar from 6:30pm. Il Vicolo plays host to the finest in Jazz classics performed by Szymon MisniakBarbara Vulso and friends from around 7pm. NC GREY: THE MAGIC TOUR (GALWAY) takes place in The Black Gate Cultural Centre tonight from 7:30pm. The Tuam troubadour Mouse McHugh will be delivering his high energy set downstairs in Monroe’s Galway from 8:30pm. Open Mic Night at Róisín Dubh continues upstairs from around 9pm with Steven Sharpe and Trass Bee maintaining order throughout! If you like an old-fashioned group sing-along then head on down to the Crane Bar and catch Greg Cotter and Mary Flanagan as they curate their amazing Country/Folk session from 9:30pm.

If you happen to be across the river then make sure you get into Tigh Neachtain nice and early and check out the wonderful Big Jelly where they will be raising the roof from around 9:30pm. Fred Mc Closkey and James Richardson will be doing their thing in the Quays Bar Galway from 10:30pm. Karl Clews and Ciaran Storey will be getting all Superfreaky in The Dáil Bar Galway from around 10:30pm and we will be hitting the stage in the Roisin Dubh for 12 midnight!

Well after another gnarly week in bandcamp we are all suffering from a vitamin D overdose and a slight case of the Panda face as we head back into the Roisin Dubh for another round of singing and dancing! I’m delighted to have the following noise merchants joining me tonight: The Reverand Mark Sullivan on guitar and Banagher blues. Monseigneur Michael Corbetton keys. Mother Superior Barbara Vulso on vocals. Dom Bertrand Huvé on sax. Pastor Eoin Mccann on bass. Padre Gabo GD on flutes and Private Bushkanga Rilla on drums.

So there you have it folks, another jam packed day of music in Galway and if you make it to the end of the night we’d only love to have the pleasure of your company in the Roisin Dubh where we will be doing our best to keep Monday at bay for just a little while longer

Doors: 11:30pm

There will be singing.
There will be dancing.
