Galway’s live music guide: Sunday 8th April

Happy sunny Sunday to all you beautiful Galwegians. It’s looking like another gorgeous day on the west coast and there’s loads of music to keep you entertained throughout. Here are just some of the events taking place today:

From 1pm you can catch the soothing sounds of Michelle Lally in SALT Restaurant & Bar as she provides the music for their Sunday brunch. The Salt House session continues from 4:30pm delivering the finest in Folk/Americana music to all you sun seekers  and hopefully, Noriana Kennedy and the gang will be back from their latest recording session! Richie Brennan and his Vibe Tribe bring some old school Rock and Blues to E Brún Bar from 6:30pm. If you like to listen to your Sunday Jazz whilst sat beside the river and drinking some mighty fine wine then check out Szymon Misniak and crew from around 7pm in Il Vicolo.

Open Mic Night at Róisín Dubh open their doors upstairs at 8pm so if you are new to the Galway music scene or you just want to perform in a super safe space, head along and find master of ceremonies Steven Sharpe, he will look after you!

If you’re a Morrisey fan then get yourself along to These Charming Men – Play the music of The Smiths in the Roisin Dubh tonight from 8pm. Monroe’s plays host to Mouse McHugh downstairs from around 8:30pm or if you like Country/Folk then head across to the Crane Bar and catch Greg Cotter and Mary Flanagan hosting one of the friendliest sessions in the country from 9pm.

If you happen to be across the river then be sure and drop into Tigh Neachtain and catch the sultry sounds of Ciarán Ó Cuinneagáin and Ray Ó hAitheasa as part of Weekend Lover from 9:30pm. Fred Mc Closkey and James Richardson will be taking to the stage in The Quays Bar at 10:30pm. Karl Clews and Ciaran Storey will be getting super freaky in The Dáil Bar from 10:30pm and we will be taking to the stage at midnight in the Roisin Dubh

Well, it took all we had to recover from the incredible night we that was last Sunday! However, the past week in Galway was peppered with some amazing music and the batteries were fully recharged at Theo Katzman’s gig on Friday night  so it is my pleasure to welcome these rejuvenated humans to join me in making a whole lot of noise tonight….Mark Sullivan on guitars and Banagher Blues. Tom Portman on dobro and electric guitar. Eoin Mccann on bass. Barbara Vulso on vocals. Bushkanga Rilla on drums. Michael Corbett on keys. Bertrand Huvé on sax and Gabo GD on flute.

So there you have it folks, another busy Sunday of music in Galway and if you make it to the end of the night we’d only love to have the pleasure of your company in the Roisin Dubh where we will do our best to keep Monday at bay for just a little bit longer

Doors: 11:30pm

There will be singing.
There will be dancing.
