Win Win For Independent Galway Games Companies

Galway Gaming Awards

The annual Galway Games Gathering took place last weekend in GMIT (Official).

John Romero of Quake / DOOM fame and Composer, Eimear Noone, Conductor and Composer (who has been involved in the music for games such as World of WarcraftDiabloMetal Gear SolidStarCraft 2 & The Legend of Zelda) were among a prestigious line-up of guest speakers at the 2-day event.

The Indie Game Awards winners were finally announced this afternoon after much deliberation by the judges and there were some notable wins for local, independent gaming companies.

The Galway Eye would like to extend congratulations to all the entrants, but especially our friends Manus Burke and the team at Howling Hamster (Sub-Species) and Christopher Colston et al. of Spooky Doorway (Dark Side Detective).

A native of Dublin, Mark has slowly been moving West since 1997. Schooled at Gonzaga College and CBS Dun Laoghaire, he received his undergraduate degree in Software Engineering from Athlone Institute of Technology in 2002. Mark spent a number of years working as a C# Developer in the industry before deciding to undertake a research masters in Information Technology at NUI Galway in 2010.
